The Constance and Its H Clasp
The Constance takes its name from its designer's newborn daughter. It is a flap bag with no top handle, carried on a single long strap across the body or over the shoulder, or folded shorter under the arm. It is recognised by one thing: the large H clasp on the front. That clasp is the first place a buyer looks, so it does a lot of the work on price.
The metal
Palladium is the benchmark. In our model gold adds about 4 per cent and rose gold about 6 per cent, so a Constance 18 with rose gold hardware pays about £8,700 to £10,400.
The finish
Ruthenium and brushed clasps are rarer and carry a small premium over palladium. Pick them in the calculator and it prices them for you.
The face of the H
Hairline marks are normal. Deep scratches, dents or signs of polishing pull the figure down further, so show the clasp honestly in the photos.
The strap
Check the strap for cracking where it folds and for stretched holes. Wear here counts toward the condition grade, not against the sale.

How Condition Moves a Constance's Price
Store fresh means unworn, with the protective film still on the clasp. Excellent means carried lightly with the corners and clasp clean. Good covers visible wear with no damage, and fair covers corner wear, marks or a strap that needs attention. None of them stops a sale.
